Pal-Ji Honey Suckle

70p for a packet of 18 sticks from the large selection available online at Just Aromatherapy. There's no indication on the packet who makes the sticks - they are simply marked on the box: "Export Quality - Made In India". The brand name is Pal-Ji, and there is little information on them. They have popped up in job lots on eBay recently, and two online shops sell them, Just Aromatherapy and JahBiz, who normally sell Rastafarian goods. There appears to be twelve different aromas in the range, and they are cheap. Just Aromatherapy advertise them as "hand rolled" - the incense covering is fairly smooth and rounded, with evidence of twisting, though also some smearing down the end of the bamboo stick, indicative of handrolled core, but machine dipped for the scent. The colour is a pleasant sandy colour - rather like the top end quality Goloka and Satya brands, but the aroma is not of that quality. The box says Honey Suckle, but the aroma is base wood, and burning grass. The aroma is not nasty, but it's a little like getting a faint whiff of a garden fire. You know, when there's a bit too much green stuff being burnt - not necessarily bad, and I am getting accustomed to it. I was tempted to buy the deal on offer for the whole collection of twelve (just £6.15, and includes a free wooden ash catcher) but bought just one as a sample - as I am getting used to the burning grass aroma, I may give the rest of the range a try. The scent is strong, so does well to cover up stinky farts, cat pee, and rotting fish.

There's no  actual honeysuckle aroma in this bargain bin incense, but it does have a decent enough cleansing woody scent that is very useful for covering up cat odours (we have three kittens who are not yet allowed outside) as well as simply freshening up the house. Not offensive - quite an acceptable scent, but fairly basic and more utilitarian than transcendental.
