Aromatika Ace Scents Dragon Blood

Second review - scroll down for earlier

I'm revisiting this Aromatika Dragons Blood after recently getting a bundle of Aromatika Ace Scents  on Amazon - more details in my post on Aromatika Ace Scents White Sage.

This is a machine extruded paste on a plain, machine cut bamboo splint. The scent on the stick is quite soapy and presents as a synthetic fragrance. There is some awareness of dragon's blood - floral notes, some powdery sweetness, a bit of sugar, very faint spice, and some faint underscoring of musk. But as a whole it mostly presents as a slightly musky-floral bar of soap. It's pleasant enough, but not exciting or rewarding.

The burn is clean and pleasant. There's some musky warmth. There isn't a great deal of strength or depth in the fragrance, so at times it wanders off, allowing a faint burning cardboard smell of the core material to come through. However, on the whole, this is a pleasant and attractive burn. A little too perfumed to get really interested in the fragrance, but certainly something quite decent to have as a quality room freshener.

I'm not really getting the same experience as I did in 2015, and I'm not really recognising this as the same stick. There's no frankincense, camphor, or halmaddi making an impression on me. And while it may be sophisticated in a simple perfumed sense, I'm not seeing it as earthy.  I like this, but I'm not seeing it as heavenly.

First review

Oh my gosh I love this! Soft, sensual, gentle musk with suggestions of frankincense and halmaddi. But always gentle and warm. Camphor underpins this - gives it a backbone. It's earthy and sophisticated at the same time. Everything about the packaging and presentation is against this - plastic and cheap looking, and with the sticks clearly machine made (though the ingredients appear to be from a natural dried masala mix rather than a chemical scent), but the fragrance is wonderful.
